In unit 15 I have learned about evaluation and tests. There are several ways to use evaluation or tests. The teacher can use tutorials to review the lesson or evaluation by students where they evaluate the course. Placement tests enables thr teacher to place the student according to his or hers ability while a progress test is used to discover what has been remembered and what has not. Diagnostic tests are usually given in the beginning of the course and they show what the student know before the course while a practice test are used for an external examination. TOEFL is used for admission to U.S. universities as a general external examination, IELTS is recognized internationally by universities,employers and immigration authoroties while TOEIC initially is specified geared roward Japan and Korea and are now becoming popular in Europeiske. TOEIC measures ability in English with everyday work activities. I feel I have a larger understanding of what each is and how to use each test to benefit both students and myself as a teacher to plan the lessons according to the students level and progress. By using tests I can get a better understanding of what I need to improve, discuss or review and it may give me a direction insight inyo exactly what the students arr struggling with and what their strenghts are.
