This course explores the most commonly needed areas of the English grammar starting from parts of speech. This unit, specifically, presents and classify the grammatical value of each word that can be found in a sentence. I can say that while I was reading this piece I felt I could be compared to an anatomy researcher studying a skeleton. From now on, every time I see a sentence, I will try to relate each word to their specific rule using this very useful guide and keeping in mind the following points: 1- Nouns can be common, proper, compound, abstract and collective. It can also be divided in two categories: countable and uncountable. To get its plurals we have to follow general rules or memorize the irregular ones. 2- The sequence to place more than one adjective in a sentence is:size-age-color-material and noun. Adjectives can be comparative or superlative.3- Articles can be indefinite:a or an (with special rules to choose one or another); definite: The (geographical uses specific rules) Important to remember that there are countable nouns that can be treated as uncountable and used with prepositions.4-Verbs can refer to states or actions. Transitive verb is one that is followed directly by an object. An intransitive verb is a verb that cannot be followed directly by an object. It does not do anything to anyone. It simply does an action, it stands alone. Infinitive verbs refers to the action as a whole and is formed by preceding the base form with \"to\". English verbs have four principal forms: base forms, past simple past participle and present participle. Verbs can be regular or irregular. Auxiliary verbs helps form a tense or a expression by combining with present or past participles or infinitives of the verbs. It does not carry the main meaning. 5- Adverbs can modify and adjective or another adverb. They can also add meaning and information to the action, quality or state devoted by a verb. 6- Gerund is the \"ing\" form of a verb used as a noun. 7- Pronouns can be: Personal:I, me, you, he, him, she, her, we, it, us they, them; Possessive:mine, yours, his, hers, theirs, ours, its; Reflexive: myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, themselves;Relative:who, which, that, whose.8-Prepositions show the relationship between a noun/pronoun with other word. Main types: time/date:at,on, by, before, in...; Movement:from, to, in, into, ...; Place/position:in, at, on, by, above, ...; 9- Conjunctions:join words of the same class or join two sentences or clauses; Of course, grammar is a far more complex subject than what was explained above. It can be tricky. However, specially if we want to teach small kids, I believe we have already enough didactic material to help us boost our imagination and create exciting and funny new games for our beloved little ones. Thanks for your team to provide me that! See you on next unit!
