The receptive skills are listening and reading, because learners do not need to produce language to do these, they receive and understand it. These skills are sometimes known as passive skills. They can be contrasted with the productive or active skills of speaking and writing. Moreover, reading and listening are not just uttering words or just listening to the sound, it is basically comprehension. These kind of activities should not be just a mere activity of doing it, but rather it has to be paired with sound understanding. And that is the role of us, teachers, we have to be creative enough to instill sure knowledge to our learners.
