Teach English in Guyuan Zhen - Daxing'anling Diqu
Unit 18 focuses on modal auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs, and active versus passive voice. I learned the 9 true modal auxiliary verbs are will, would, shall, should, must, may, might, can, could and how they are used to signify different levels of confidence, command or formality. I learned how to recognize the difference between a passive and active voice in a sentence. A passive voice is used when the agent or 'doer' of the sentence is unknown, unimportant or when the speaker wishes to conceal the agent. Passive voice is also used to change the focus from subject to the object. I had never heard of phrasal verbs before so this remains a bit tricky for me.
