This unit discussed the potential problems a teacher might face in the ESL classroom, and how to properly handle each. It discussed how to conduct the first lesson, giving tips such as to avoid using the course book and various activities that can be used to establish rapport with the students and gauge their level of language. It also talked about how to deal with large classes, reluctant students, listening problems, and other potential obstacles. All the information in this unit was equally valuable as it allows for the future teacher to understand how to effectively handle problems so as not to compromise teaching efficacy throughout the English course.
