In this unit I learned about how to deal with various common problems while teaching. It is important to establish rapport with a class in the first lesson, and try to get to know the students. Questionnaires can be used to establish skill level, and a pass the ball game can help the teacher learn student names and interests. Starting a class with a warmer activity is helpful for gaining the attention of students -- activities include hangman, pictionary, tongue twisters, etc. When students of the same class are at different levels, it is helpful to pair strong students with weaker ones, or provide extra material for strong students so they don't get bored.
