This unit on classroom management was very affirming of my experience as a student. I remember the best teachers I have had practiced these tenets with their own style. I learned that students need variety, space, boundaries, and respect. I do feel that using the term 'threat' was inappropriate in regard to student discipline - threats are never a useful tool in my experience to earn respect. They evoke fear and control of being caught. I believe in establishing firm boundaries and appropriating consequences to respective breaches of those boundaries. This helps keep disciplinarian ego and emotions out of the interaction, allowing a calm procedure to occur.
