In this Unit, we find a clear description of the main characteristics of teachers and students in an EFL classroom. We analyze the elements that make both a \"good\" teacher and a good learner. We are introduced the most important roles of a teacher and how a good teacher must be prepared to change roles according to the activity during a lesson. We also explore on the main features of an ideal English learner, like willingness to listen to the language, among other characteristics. Overall, Unit 1 is about understanding the complex relationship between the teacher and the learner and how this issue is crucial for setting up an effective learning environment.
