This chapter dealt with the often neglected teaching of phonology and pronunciation. I can see why, it seems like a very overwhelming task. We learned about intonation, and stress and how altering them can give the same phrase a completely different meaning. Also in this lesson we had a brief anatomy lesson where we learned parts of the mouth for articulation and how varying elements within can produce the different sounds we make to communicate. It amazes me on how many processes we're going through just to communicate. My biggest take away in this lesson was the phonemic alphabet. I never learned it in primary school nor college. I've seen it next to dictionary definitions but really paid no mind to it. It was actually fun to learn and makes sense out of how to teach pronunciation.
