In this unit you study the topic of teaching productive skills: writing and speaking. There are two parts of the unit that I found really useful. First, I didn?t know the difference between accuracy and fluency activities. In this unit I learned them and I also understood a vital point: accuracy and fluency activities play such a leading role when deciding whether the language in use is going to be controlled by the teacher or by the student, that knowing them is vital. Second, I benefited a lot from the descriptions of a typical speaking and writing lessons. The descriptions are broken down into the three stages of an ESA class (engage, study and activate), so they show a good application of the process of teaching productive skills by using Harmer?s teaching methodology.
