This unit is more familiar, as I have spent time working in classrooms and pride myself on building good rapport and keeping the energy and interests alive of all students. In particular the importance of a supportive environment that builds on respect is paramount. Students benefit from a balanced space that would encourage them to connect with each other as much as with the teacher.This unit was helpful in identifying the various factors that go into choosing materials for a course and what sort of factors the teacher should consider. I found the listing of pros and cons for textbooks especially useful. I also learned the difference between authentic and created materials. This difference will help me decide on the types of supplemental materials to use and why.
