It was fun to review grammatical conventions. It had been a long time since I reflected on parts of speech in an over-arching way. I usually teach one small concept at a time to fairly young children. Some of these items are beyond the level of my current students. I feel like a doctor who dissects a cadaver to see how the organs fit together. I enjoy the scientific side of language.This unit was extremely challenging. I am very disappointed in the material. I found the usage outlined to be extremely vague and the examples, unrelated to eachother. My understanding of the forms did not seem to be an important or necessary element for testing. The test items also did not seem to adhere to the usage given in the unit. This was not as clear as the present tense unit.
