This unit was very interesting, to say the least. I have never used reported speech before this unit but I can see how it is relevant to teaching English. And, though, I still find some parts confusing (like when it is appropriate to use backshifting), I found the information very useful. I think using the teaching ideas will help me and my prospective students understand such a concept.Knowing about these type of examinations are imperative since each student comes into the course with different abilities and skill-sets. While some are better than others at these types of exams, it is impossible to asses a students abilities without these exams. Incorporating Progress exams, for example, in with other styles of assessment is beneficial for both the teacher and student.
