I have learnt from this unit that teaching techniques and methodology mostly depend on learners' age and level of English knowledge. Teaching beginners, for example, requires special skills and psycology, teachers should set up clear and realistic aims, be able to give clear and simple instructions and encourage students to speak English as much as possible. Teaching individual students can have a number of advantages for teachers because such students are usually highly motivated. Teaching children can be very enjoyable for teachers because children possess an innate curiosity which is a motivating factor as well. But teachers have to change activities frequently because children generally have short attention spans and get bored quickly. Teaching multilingual classes can be advantageous in comparison with teaching monoligual classes because the former students are forced to communicate English but not their native language. Teaching business English can differ from teaching young learners because business people are often tired, less motivated, their age can range from 20s to 50s and their learning experience differs as well. Attendance of the students can often be irregular due to their work. That's why teachers have to conduct needs analysis and planning the course before starting teaching such students.
