Firstly, I have learned a great deal about games that can be used in the classroom. I have learned that games should also be designed and executed in a way that is suitable for a students level. For example one cannot give a \"Word linking\" game to the very lowest/beginner level students as they are only learning new words and cannot yet link them. The same applies to secondary students, one cannot give them an \"Adjectival Introduction\" activity as they have learned how to describe themselves at Primary level already. A full on debate or discussion would be better suited for them. Secondly, and very importantly I have gotten great insight about lesson structure. As a teacher I sometimes experience a Plateau during higher level grammar lessons, which now I can improve using the 'Boomerang' ESA lesson concept. Thirdly, I have leaned that correcting students cannot be done in all stages of a lesson. I find this to be extremely important as I have not understood it before. I understand that students should have periods of uninterrupted speaking times, i.e. the Engage and Activate stages, where they can explore with the language they are learning and not be corrected. Lastly, I have learned that it is important for teachers to vary activities, topics and games so that students don't get bored with the lessons.
