Teach English in TuokAn XiAng - Chongzuo Shi
While this unit discusses the different equipment and teaching aid, I got a better idea of when it is appropriate to use a certain equipment when conducting a class. For instance, while the OHP is useful, there are other factors that we need to take into consideration like for instance the size of the classroom and seating arrangement to ensure that the light pathway is not blocked. More importantly, the classroom needs a board/wall that is not bleached out by direct sunlight. I also liked the bit where it was mentioned that other visual aids (e.g drawings or cut-up magazines can be used). For this chapter, I found the section on Online Resources outstanding. While I knew that there are online dictionaries available, this list just reaffirmed other trustworthy sources. I will usually refer to Oxford Reference or Merriam Webster, but it is enlightening to know that there are other trustworthy sources available. The same goes for Media. I am very cautious in choosy with the Media that I choose to subscribe to or read. BBC has always been a trusted one, as well as The Guardian and Reuters. Some of the Media provided here are novel to me and I have never referred to them, e.g. The Scotsman and UK Newspapers and International Newspapers with English Versions. These two websites are on my list to further delve into.
