Unit 9 talks about the procedures that teachers must consider when planning a lesson and the importance of having lesson plans. Based on my personal experience and from the information that was presented in this unit, once a teacher has had much experience, the educator can simply write down quick notes and can be flexible by changing the lesson plan. Experienced teachers can be able to identify their students' needs and can modify the lesson plan. Modifying lesson plans can include shortening or extending lectures as well as postponing or including new activities.Lesson plans have helped me make sure that the students received enough practice on the topics that they were studying, and also making sure that the timings and procedures went according to plan. If there was time left over, I had to come up with extra activities. Now I realize that it is better to write down back up activities on the lesson plan, before coming to class. If there is still time left over, and the teacher has completed everything from the lesson plan, the educator will look unprofessional in front of the students if he or she comes up with activities on the spot. The information from this unit has also helped me understand that there is no perfect way to create a lesson plan, but each teacher finds his or her own form through practice.
