In the course introduction for teaching business English, I learned about which units in this series I will be learning things such as teaching and learning, course development, materials, teaching themes, and about the business English world. I learned that this course is specifically aims to teachers who intend to teach business English. I also learned about some general terminology that is used in the industry. Some of these include BESIG, IATEFL?s Business English Special Interest Group, EOP, English for Occupational Purposes, ESP Teaching of English for Specific Purposes, and TEYL, which stands for Teaching of English to Young Learners. There are many more, these are just a few examples. It is not actually necessary to have knowledge of the particular business or industry that you are teaching English to. All you need is to be a native and fluent English speaker. Some business knowledge and terminology does help, but you don?t need to be knowledgeable about nursing to teach English to nurses. Examples of teaching English for specific purposes would be things like medical English for medical professionals, English for law, English for academic purposes, etc. Teachers can find themselves teaching students one to one or in business facilities. It just depends on the job that particular teacher has taken.
