Teach English in ZhongshAnlu Jiedao - Chongqing
I?ve already put much of the course into action! As soon as I realized I?ve been making a mistake all along, I tried to change and adapt. I learned much about lesson plans and how to make them a lot more effective. I made lots of mistakes in my class and learned how to correct myself and work more efficiently with students. The worst mistake I made and still make is, interrupting students! I know it?s really bad but sometimes I suddenly remember something ? so that also taught me to make a list and make sure I give them all the correct information before they start their work. I tended to put a lot of students on the spot so I?ve tried to work a lot more in groups where students feel safe to answer and they have the support they want. I also learned a great deal concerning tenses and I realized I?m not at all equipped to teach grammar! So I got a lot of practice and did many exercises myself to help myself in order to help students. I learned to look at myself at lot in retrospect and saw I thought I was doing a great job, but actually I wasn?t! I think if you?ve been doing this job for a while it?s easy to get into a comfortable place and not try hard every day. I learned that students are very delicate and if you slip up only once, you can lose the respect of students. (Concerning cultural differences) They are easily offended so you must make sure everyday you look and dress and speak without fault. I want to further myself and my career by learning more about the english language and teaching that to my students, inspiring them to learn to love the language and feel comfortable to use it.
