Going into this course both of us had our assumptions that this would be a relatively simple course considering that we are native english speakers, although were very surprised to learn how difficult the english language is and our respect for those attempting to learn it has certainly increased. The TESOL course has been absolutely invaluable in providing a good foundation to work from in our future teaching and the basic skills that will be necessary in the classroom. We both thoroughly believe that to embark on teaching english in a foreign country without the information and skills that the TESOL course provides would be extremely difficult. We are very aware that the TESOL course alone is not enough to thrive in the classroom, and much dedication on our part to challenge ourselves and to further develop our knowledge in the english teaching field will be critical going forward. Going forward all units of the TESOL course will be printed and reread, several times as there was a great deal of information that will serve us well to go over. Teaching materials, ideas, and suggestions from outside resources will be explored and retained in order that our first experience as an english teacher can be one that is both positive and rewarding for ourselves and our students. Prior to beginning our teaching in china we will be purchasing a book on teaching english and creating some lesson plans so that we have some ideas going into our first position. The primary message we gained from completing this course was that teaching english is a very serious business that requires determined, open minded individuals that are willing to challenge themselves on a daily basis in order to meet the educational demands of their students.
