I feel a lot more prepared to teach. I have a better understanding about how to operate a classroom. This course has given me a lot of ideas that I will definitely use while teaching. I have a good understanding about how time should be broken down in class. I think the ESA structure is a good way to bring variety and keep the students interested. It will be important for me to be very prepared for class everyday and have a variety of activities. It will be beneficial for me to understand the level of students I will be teaching so I can adjust my lessons accordingly. I plan on teaching and doing private tutoring so I now have a better feel about how to approach those two different situations. This course has also gotten me more excited about teaching. I have enjoyed trying to come up with creative lesson plans. I know that it will be a challenge for me to teach since I have very little experience teaching. However, it is reassuring to know that there are a lot of resources for ESL teachers for lesson ideas. I will definitely look back through these lessons to get ideas about teaching. I also feel that I have learned a lot about the english language through this course. Relearning the reasons why sentences are structured the way they are and differences between written and spoken languages will both benefit me while teaching. I have sought out additional texts on the english language that I plan on reviewing before I begin working in September.
