Taking this course has given me a new and greater perspective on teaching. Throughout much of the course I could recall my teachers from high school doing the same type strategic activities in various spanish classes. I definitely wish that I had been an easier student to have in the classroom for certain teachers, but I also see now how some mightve handled the situation better or how else the lessons couldve gone so I wouldnt have been so confused! Honestly, before I really got into doing the units and actually getting my TEFL certificate, I thought that this online course would just be a quick grammar review and Id be on my way to foreign countries in no time! I have become aware now, that teaching english in foreign countries is going to be a lot more than just writing grammar points on the board for students to copy down- and I am excited! Gradually throughout this whole course I have become aware that I can make a difference in not only my own life with this certificate, but also many other peoples lives! I want to go across to countries I wouldve never expected myself to go to and I want to reach out to the people there. I dont think I will single handedly change the world by teaching english, but I do believe that I can change a number of peoples lives by helping them take advantage of an opportunity, and that is what I plan to do.
