This course has gotten me to realize that there are many details that go not only into the english language, but into teaching it as well, apart from the language. There are various aspects of the english language that many times we don't learn in school, unless we have a focus in that study, because we just naturally learn them by speaking the language every day. But taking this course has made me a little more aware of the fact that many students will have issues with learning the difference between simple, perfect, continuous, and perfect continuous as well as between passive and active voice and so on. Also that it's important to give an equal amount of attention to both the receptive and productive skills. As for the psychological aspect of teaching students, I feel that I have a much clearer understanding of not only what to expect of the students and how to deal with their behavior, be it positive or negative, but also how I should conduct myself in the classroom to achieve my goals. Furthermore, lesson planning is something that I have become somewhat comfortable with and am glad to have had the practice as it is one less thing I will have to contest with when I begin teaching. I never had any illusions that teaching english would be easy, but this course has given a lot of context and preparation to the issues and details that a teacher will have to face to become successful, especially with having no training in education. I feel that I will go into a classroom much less blind and have the confidence in what I am doing to be a successful, effective, and more complete teacher. There was a chance before that I may have been overwhelmed by teaching others while in a different culture, a situation that is mostly foreign to me, but I feel much more prepared now.
