Teach English in Shenglilu Jiedao - Chongqing
? I have gained a lot from this course and come to the realization that teaching a language requires a lot more than being able to fluently speak that language. ? That the role of the teacher includes more than just standing in front of the class and teaching. Sometimes, he/she needs to act as an assessor, a prompter, a facilitator, a manager, etc. ? That being a language teacher is not only about talking to your students , but also using other non-verbal methods of teaching and giving opportunity for the students to talk so that they can practice what they have learnt. ? That there is a right and wrong way to give instruction and correct their mistakes. ? That there are methods of teaching that are more effective than others. That it is my duty as a teacher to get students motivated to learn through warm u.s.and interesting activities. Also to get them to practice and apply what they have learnt. ? That in as much as students? working alone is important; I should also encourage students to work in pairs and as a group. ? That teaching language is more than just teaching grammar and vocabulary, but also includes pronunciation and the integration of the basic language skills. ? That it is important I prepare my teaching materials and plan my lessons. To know how to use course books and other materials in a way that is appropriate for my students and fits their needs. ? That there are different types of learners and what works for one may not necessarily work for the other. Therefore, I need to understand my students and how to motivate them to learn. In the light of the above, I shall endeavour to play the role of a teacher, understand the needs of my students and use the available resources according to their specific needs; maximise the use gestures, real objects, and other non-verbal resources in teaching; make provision for my students to speak and practice the language they have learnt and encourage pair and group work. In addition, I shall include all aspects of language learning in my lessons and plan my lessons to include the use of warm u.s.and other motivating activities in my lessons; use course books and other materials according to the needs of my students and include the use of real materials. I shall appreciate the fact that just as learners are different, there are different ways of teaching them and bringing out the best in them.
