This course has been useful to not only refresh my grammar in a formal and standardized way, but especially to learn how to behave in front of a classroom, in order to teach students in an efficient and organized manner. My understanding of the english language as it was before the class has not changed dramatically after completing the course, since I was proficient enough. However, knowing and teaching are highly different skills and I greatly gained in the teaching perspective. Since I have been speaking the language for a very long time, it is sometimes hard for me to stop and think about the grammar rules that I am using. Language becomes automatic after a point which is why I say that teaching is very different from merely knowing. There was a specific reason why I decided to get TEFL certified in the first place. My partner and I had decided to move to Italy because of work reason on her side, which meant I had to find a job when I got there, with little knowledge of the italian language. Even-though education has never been my priority for a career, I have always enjoyed tutoring, I am fairly proficient with languages and the market for english teacher is promising in a lot of countries. As of now, I am already in Italy and in contact with a few language schools that are looking for teachers. I would love to expand my teaching experience which is at a medium level at this point, because I love traveling and living in new countries. I have already spent several years in France, in Canada as well as in the United-States and I am about to spend several more years in Italy. Keeping an open window for the future, being a certified TEFL teacher will allow me to move around the world as I need or as I please.
