Thanks to the ITTT TEFL course, I have learned how to put together lessons on a variety of subjects crucial to teaching the english language. Being a native english speaker and using english daily, I have not thought about grammar in such intensive detail in a very long time. Because of the course, I have now brushed up on english grammar and have even learned several terms that I have not had to use before (i.e. modal auxiliary verbs). The fundamentals taught throughout the course will be beneficial to any teaching I do in the future, regardless of whether the subject is english or something else. I plan to put what I have learned in this course into action by teaching elementary level students in the Hangzhou area of China, hopefully as soon as this autumn. Rather than just visiting the area and then returning home, I would like to immerse myself into the culture and relate to the people as best I can. By becoming an english teacher, I feel like I will be able to sustain myself while experiencing how the native chinese people live. In addition to helping students learn english, I will volunteer and help the people in other ways available to me. I found this course to be invaluable, particularly in regards to the material given on teaching a class (i.e. preparation, material, techniques). The tutor was extraordinarily beneficial in that she provided me with many outside resources and wonderful commentary on anything that I might have needed clarification on. I now feel confident enough to begin teaching without any hesitation.
