I have spent the last 4 years learning German at the university level so I have a pretty good understanding of how teaching language progresses. This course was valuable to me because it showed me specifically how specifically the understanding of english progresses and how that progression can be taught. It also taught me the more specific rules of our language, which I will need to use to instruct non-natives. A lot of the teaching methods mentioned in the course I have been exposed to as a student, though I still learned many new ones and, more importantly, why they are effective and how to best use them. I hope to travel to Germany or Austria next year on a Fulbright grant and teach english. This course will certainly be useful in that endeavor. After my Fulbright grant runs out I may stay longer and instruct english at a private school or language institute.
