This course has been great for me. It surprised me with the level of expectation and with the quality of the content included. It covered so many important aspects and whilst only on a surface level, it has provoked in me the realization that I have a lot more work to do to become proficient in teaching the mechanics of english confidently. The work we did on the form of verbs was intense and whilst I found it difficult I also enjoyed the challenge and will continue to practise the various tenses until it becomes automatic for me. I was impressed with how cleverly you worded each unit to contain state of the art teaching practices in easy to digest amounts. It made the course precise, enjoyable and manageable. I will continue to plan my lessons using the ESA lesson model as it provides a natural flow of learning that complements a student?s way of attaining knowledge in a fun and engaging manner. Mixing the heavy work with the lighter games so students don?t become overwhelmed is great for relieving tiredness and reenergizing students. I like the idea of mixing course books with your own program as it ensures variety and includes the personal interests of the students, combining both researched and relevant topics into the curriculum. The evaluating and testing unit was excellent and has provided me with a foundation to work from to design my own placement tests and to continue to keep progress tests so that my teaching is informed and continues to challenge and improve my student?s language acquisition. I will be referring to these units often as they are full of useful information and links to other great resources. I particularly enjoyed Unit 19 as it gave so many helpful tips that often take years to learn, for example, revise constantly, do not over correct. Small words of wisdom that make a huge difference!
