Overall I feel I have gained a lot from this course. First, I feel I have a deeper knowledge of the english language and how it works. I feel as though I can confidently explain the grammar, uses, vocabulary and different parts of speech and give examples and exercises that are going to be age and level appropriate. I am very pleased with what I have learned about classroom management. I am going to have to work at it, but I plan on going back through the units for referral and advice on how best to handle situations. I learned that I have to first motivate the students and create a want to learn english. I know that to be able to do this I have to keep lessons fresh, interesting, current and relevant to what the students need and want to learn. I have to, most importantly, establish a rapport with the students by finding out about them, what they are into, where they are from, their aspirations, etc. Lesson planning will be my most difficult hurdle as I grow as a teacher, but I feel the materials from this course will help me create a comfortable learning environment and help foster the growth of english speaking students around the world
