Teaching is both a challenging and rewarding experience. This is what I have believed in all my life, and taking this course has reinforced this belief even more. Teachers often have to deal with a lot of challenging situations before, during, and after a lesson. In other words, the art of teaching doesn't begin and end within the four walls of a classroom. It begins as soon as you accept the job, but come to think of it, it actually doesn't have an end. One of the things that this course has taught me is the fact that one of the most vital (and critical) stages of teaching a class starts hours/days/weeks before that actual class begins. The success of a 30-minute lesson, for example, clearly depends on how the teacher effectively planned and organized the class days or weeks before. I consider myself as someone who is a bit obsessive-compulsive when it comes to pre-planning. But with the help of this course, I get to appreciate pre-planning rituals even more. Now, I will create lesson plans that will pay more attention to details like anticipated classroom difficulties, engaging activities in all ESA stages, teacher- and student-talk time, and the lesson objectives not only for the students but also for myself as a teacher. This course has also provided me with a variety of teaching methods and activities that I can utilize to help keep my students with different levels interested in learning english during and after lessons. No matter how you see it, teachers do their job, not because they want to show off their talents, but because they want their students to feel empowered, especially in using a foreign language. Teachers must always think of their students' needs and use these needs to organize and plan lessons. More importantly, teacher must always be flexible, patient and sensitive to their students' preferences and difficulties, and should come up with ways to deal with these obstacles, so that students will be motivated to study even after lesson hours.
