I have gained such a deeper knowledge of the basic principles of the english and how to put them into practice. Being a native english speaker, I think I take for granted all the parts and methods of english as I speak, because I have always learned how to speak english. It is automatic to know that if I need to describe someone, I will choose a word like ?creative?. I don?t ever think that I am using an adjective and I don?t ever think about how this word connects grammatically to the other words in a sentence. Although I have also learned grammar and practiced english in a scholarly setting all my life, I still don?t always think of the english language from the point of view of one never ever knowing how to use it. This course has taught me how to look at english from this other perspective and really think about how one who has never heard english before may feel when encountering it for the first time. I have also gained so much insight as to handling lessons and being in the classroom. In my current teaching career, I really don?t have to deal with language barriers, or presenting students with material that they just could absolutely not comprehend, or possibly not even comprehend me. By taking this course and writing the practice lesson plans and coming up with practice games and scenarios, I feel I am so much better prepared to actually be faced with students and my own classroom. I feel that if a problem were to arise, I now know how to properly handle different situations. I know how to divert lessons and situations and come up with new grammar and vocab games and ideas. Before taking this course, I would have probably not have ever thought about all of the different ways of teaching. I want to use the information learned in this course to be able to teach abroad, preferably in Italy or Istanbul. I have an intense passion for travel and experience new cultures. I speak italian and I have been fortunate to live abroad for several months, and also to travel to many other destinations for the adventure. Although I love travelling, I have also become a teacher over the past year. I have worked with pre-school aged children, teenagers, and now currently I teach Middle School (pre-teens). I never saw teaching in my future, but I landed into the teaching field, and now I cannot see myself ever leaving. To teach english in a foreign country would combine my two loves of travel and teaching into one. I am a very creative person and take this outlook anywhere I go. I think that I could really connect with my students, no matter where they come from, and I think that it would be an amazing experience for both me and the students. I would be positive and outgoing throughout all my teaching endeavors, and I would make sure to use what I learned with this course as far as lesson ideas and games, and actually use them in the classroom. I would use this course as a guide from which to pull material and gain advice for teaching experiences.
