This lesson taught me many teaching techniques I did not know. I can now understand how important it is for students to feel supported. Also, I understand that learning a foreign language can be very intimidating. It is best, especially with children, to have games or puzzles that introduce them to the new language. This allows them to become comfortable with the language and look forward to learning more!Unit 7 deals with teaching new language and, in particular, vocabulary, grammar and language functions. It provides advice on the techniques available to incorporate each of these into the framework of any lesson. As always, I find I benefit from the student-centred advice and from reminders, such as 'receptive' and 'productive' vocabulary as well as suggestions like the Collins Cobuild English Dictionary.
