The attitude with which the teacher approaches a lesson is crucial to the success of a lesson. If the teacher appears board and uninterested, then the students are unlikely to participate. On the other hand, a cheerful and enthusiastic approach from the teacher is a great help to student engagement. Furthermore, dropping students into the deep end when introducing new concepts will leave them intimidated and struggling. It is important to introduce a topic more slowly and to guide the students through the things they may not be familiar with, before leaving them to work on their own. Also, it is a very good idea to mime and use examples when introducing things the students may not be familiar with.
