This unit covers the parts of speech a word has in a sentence. Coming from a linguistic background, there are some parts I found slightly simplistic, but when you consider the point that we are learning the parts of speech so that we can explain it in our language teaching to someone else, I found them quite appropriate. Prepositions, for example, have many categories, but this unit really only covers three big ones. Yes, the text acknowledges this, and the many uses of prepositions aren't really necessary to explain their overall usage to a student. As I went through this chapter it really put into perspective just how many parts of speech there are and how easily it can be to trip up on any of them.
