The focus of this unit was on the receptive skills-reading and listening. It is very important to develop a student?s receptive skills by using a variety of text. The reason for reading or listening will be determined by our motives, is it for a purpose or entertainment. The understanding and interpretation of the text are often influenced by our own preconceived ideas, we interpret it according to our experiences and cultures. To encourage our students to become active readers and listener we must engage them in text that is interesting and within their grasp. They might not understand the vocabulary 100% but they must be able to have a general understanding of the text and find it interesting.
