In Unit 20: Troubleshooting, common problems and their solutions are displayed. It is taught that in the first lesson, the teacher must not refer to the course book but instead establish rapport with and among the students. The problem of large classes is tackled, suggesting lots of pair work and choral repetition. The unit also explains that native language should almost never be used in the classroom, and that even though students have difficulty with listening materials, these should still be used. There may be reluctant students, but this is best dealt with by pair work, not singling out these students. Ultimately, in this unit I learned many common classroom problems, and how to troubleshoot them.
