Unit 20 looks at the most common problem situations that teachers can encounter in the classroom such as dealing with large classes, multi-level classes and reluctant students. I have learned about activities that a teacher can use to find out the needs and English level of each class member during a first lesson (e.g., Pass the ball game, Needs analysis). Large classes can also present the teacher with some problems. The use of worksheets and to appoint group leaders can make classroom management easier. I have also learned about things that the teacher can do to avoid that students use their L1 in the classroom (e.g, make sure explanations are clear to all class members and only respond to English).
