This unit deals with some common problem situations that teachers can encounter in the classroom and also suggests ways of dealing with them. Whether a class is a totally new group, or an existing group, either type of class begins with activities to help establish rapport, find out student needs and the individual English level of each student. All classes can benefit from an appropriate warm-up activity. Sometimes students progress at different levels. I learned some ways to try to deal with this eventuality. The unit also discussed and proposed possible remedies with large class sizes, use of native language in the classroom, working with reluctant students, and difficulties with listening texts.
