As the unit points out, grammar is French said to be the trunk of the tree with vocabulary and language functions being the branches. Many teachers however try to teach a language solely on the basis of grammar. I've leaned and it was reinforced in this unit that grammar only will never be enough for complete and successful language acquisition. I can now therefore use this unit as evidence that grammar lessons do need the support from the other areas, just like a tree need the support of its leaves and branches. This unit also brought home the complete understanding of the teaching format-ESA and its subsidiaries. The examples in the unit also played a vital part in my grasping the content and context.
