This introductory unit provides a broad overview of the remaining units and what will be covered. Teaching children is a specialized area, children learn differently and at a different pace to adult learners. Their attention spans are limited, as are their life experiences and ability to relate to example scenarios. The bonus of teaching young children is that they are generally inherently curious, are enthusiastic about learning and have strong imaginations. This assists the teacher in capturing attention and framing the lesson in a more fun environment. They are less inhibited, eager to participate in discussion or actions. The age gap also creates a natural benchmark for respect and discipline.
