This unit covers the rules of the past tenses in English: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. Some languages do not have the same concepts of the past as in English, which can lead to student errors. This unit notes these typical student errors, such as the omission of the verb \"to be\" in the past continuous form. As the usage of these past tenses is natural to a native English speaker, I learned the distinctions between each form that I had never consciously considered before. I also learned some useful activities for students to practice the past tenses, such as using journals to write about past actions and telling stories of things that had happened in the past.
