Completing this unit helped me to understand how the tenses fit together, present, past and future. While I struggled with the first tenses unit, I now feel more confident with my understanding of tenses. There are the usually four tenses of future simple, future continuous, future perfect and future perfect continuous as well as three others. The ?to be going? future tense, present simple tense of the future and the present continuous tense of the future. I learnt the structures of these tenses so that I could identify which tense is being used in a sentence. I also learnt the usage of these different tenses which is required when explaining to a student why and when you use a particular tense.
