This unit is about course development. Graded tests allow to evaluate students' level . Then a need analysis is conducted to help design a syllabus. One may create different types of syllabus (structural based on grammar, functional-notional, learner-led or situational). It's important to regularly assess students' progress through a series of tests (placement, proficiency, diagnostic, aptitude, achievement). One also may prepare young learners for specific examinations. CYLE tests offer 3 levels for ages 7-12 (starters, movers, flyers). KET and PET are designed for students over 13. A course evaluation in the form of a questionnaire may be given at the end so students provide feedbacks to the teacher.
