In Unit 1: Teachers and Learners, the content was mainly focused on both the roles and experiences of the teacher and student within the classroom. It was discussed what makes a good teacher and what makes a bad teacher, and the different roles that a teacher must take throughout class time to be effective. Some student stereotypes were also discussed (based on age and cultural identity), and ideas on how to work with these individual types of students were also mentioned. Amount of familiarity with the language and motivation were noted as key factors in how to deal with particular students. Overall, I learned in Unit 1 the complexity and importance of the relationship between the teacher and the student.
