There are 4 conditional forms. Zero conditional refers to actions and facts that are real and irrefutable. First conditional talks about a real situation in the future that is possible or even certain. Second conditional talkes about present or future unreal situations that are unlikely ever to be true. Third conditional refers to a hypothetical past action with the past result. There is a mixed conditional, which can combine two different conditionals. Teacher can use a lot of activities when teaching conditionals: split sentences, chain conditionals, questions and other activities. When the direct speech turns into reported speech the backshifting takes place: tenses and the time indication words change.
