This unit breaks down the categories of young learners into 5-9 year olds and 9-13 year olds, demonstrating that children within these age ranges change language acquisition and learning styles despite all being in the category of young learners. Much younger learners need constant variety of activities such as songs, games, and other activities involving movement and repetition. Young learners in the second category are more able to focus on calmer tasks like worksheets, listening activities, and discussion without the need for constant movement and repetition. The overall lesson I got from this unit is to adapt lessons to students' needs and interests while balancing the language skills they need to learn.
