From my own personal experience, receptive skills were the hardest part about learning another language. One issue seemed to be that my teachers did not do a good job of taking the time to get to know the class and our interest. I know that many people, in general, do not like reading especially if the subject matter is of no interest to them. My take home from this unit will be to try and start getting to know my students at the start of the course so that once we get to the receptive skills portion of the course I can provide them with materials they will enjoy reading. Getting to know my students at the start of the course will also help to build great rapport and aid in the overall success of the course.
