Teach English in Zhaomaotao XiAng - Cangzhou Shi
This unit made me think more thoroughly about what impediments can make language, structure and function difficult for students to learn quickly and easily. Beyond the age and level-appropriateness of a topic, I think it is extremely important to consider, too, how applicable to the students' own life the vocabulary/structure is and how often they will use it. It's difficult to justify taking a large amount of time to go over the lesser used form or vocabulary to say something when time with students in limited. However, this could, perhaps, be augmented by making a game or worksheet that asked students to infer from context what a phrase meant and this might lead to a good way to study colloquialisms or slang.
