In this unit I've learned so much about the past tense that I didn't know before! The past tense is way more complex than I would have known. Of course we as English speakers use it everyday and can even recognize the meanings of each sentence. However having the actual usages pointed out has helped me understand each way the past tense can be used. In my opinion, the past perfect and the past perfect continuous may give non native English speakers a hard time because they are both very similar and can possibly be confused with one another. The past perfect is used for actions that occur before other actions in the past, Past perfect continuous is used for actions in the past that had been going on continuously.
