This unit gave a good overview of how important it is to have receptive and productive skills in your lessons, especially reading and listening. The different reasons and ways we read and listen and the problems that occur. The students are going to have trouble reading and listening if they do not understand the language, if its not at their level and if the topic is not interesting. The teacher needs to get to know their students and choose something of interest for everyone. The engage phase is very important with the receptive skills because this is when the teacher will/needs to draw the students in and grab their attention. I also learnt some more comprehension exercises that would be good to use in class.
